6. Large format CNC (computer controlled Machining)¶
In this week i worked on the largest machine on fab lan which is the CNC.
we were asked to design a child theme furniture, the following image is the image i decided to design for the indivisual assignment.

First:Designing¶
Step 1: i created both sides of my shape which is called “Home Shelf” by creating tringle and used extrued for it and then mirror it to get both sides
Step 2: i created the the cap of the home shelf by creating recentangular and exruded it over the sides i did in Step 1
Step3: i created the Tringular shape by drawing the following sketch and extruding it and i used mirror to make it on both sides
Step4:After that i draw the lower shelf and used the command recntangular pattern to copy it for making the upper shelf
Step 5: i added some diveders to divde the space i got in the shelfs and all are with same simple tools recntangular and extrude
Step 6 : Here i created Recentangular and tringular shapes to cover the backside of my Home shelf
Step7: Finally the joints,thanks to our instructor abdullah i did finger joints using add-in in fusion360,you can see more information

Step 8: i will briefly explaing Finger joints options , (1) and (2) you have to choose two intersected bodies , (3) you have to choose the direction where joints will be, (4)(5) are the distance you want to make which is used for clearence,

CNC Process:¶
STEP1:I opened Vcarve softward and set the hegiht,width and thickness of the playwood i was cutting on
STEP2:I open my dxf files in the softwards and put them in the recentangular shown which represent the playwood sheet
STEP3: I set up the seeting for the tool path
STEP4:I added the tabs on the
STEP5:I saved the settings and uploaded to another softwarde called ShopBotEasy and started the cutting
Problem Faced¶
This is more mistake than a problem ,i did the clearnence in the wrong direction which is shown in red arrows, but it should be where the blue arrows
Thanks to abdullah, he told me about very effective tool called “offcet face” where i can select face and shift in any direction and whatever distance i need, so i used it to creat my clearence
