2. Computer Aided design¶
Blender¶
Blender is a 3D software program only so you can only use 3D designs such as cubes, circle, cone, cylinder and many more objects but to be honest i didn’t use other objects than the cube because this is my first time using Blender so i was messing around with the program to figure how to use it. Blender in my opinion is easy to use, however, like any other software if you are new to it like me you could get confused how to use it but with practice and continuing working on designs you will figure it out. Blender offers many adjustment you could use in your 3D designs such as leveling, scaling, rotating, mirroring and even measuring the objects to make sure they are equal. Blender
while messing around using Blender i found my self creating stairs and leveling them on top of each other so i decided to make it a two floor staircase.
first i made a cube then i shrank it to make a square and copy it multiple times so the size is same and then put them on top of each other.
then the space between them is made with the final square but i stretched it to make a rectangle and space between the staircase which is called rest area.
finally, the same squares for the fist floor are used for the second floor and placed on top of the rest area.
also there are two walls to prevent from falling. the two walls are actually the same squares but are tilted vertically so it gives the impression of a wall
GIMP¶
GIMP is a bad experience for me, i may have downloaded the program incorrectly because while using GIMP the program crashes so i couldn’t do any design using it. also, the program it self was awkward and i was lost trying to use it. so, it was frustrating and i decided to stop using it since my laptop couldn’t handle it and to try other programs. GIMP
Vectr¶
Vectr is a really simple 2D design website and it is very easy to use for beginners. what i like while using Vectr is it is a website so no need to download anything and very direct to use but could be annoying due to the simplicity of the objects and tools. also, you can do simple 3D designs if you get creative and know how to use perspective to make it 3D. for this design, i tried to make a multiple shapes that are connected to each other with different color to distinguish the difference between them.
firstly, drawing the leaf shape. then i made a copy and flip it horizontally.
then another leaf’s vertically on both sides.
finally, coloring it.
the 2nd design is a table but 3D, to do this you need to know how to use perspective in your advantage so from the top view this 2D table transformed into a 3D table.
firstly, i drew a square but on 45 degree angle.
then i made another one under it.
finally, drawing the legs of the table
