Week 7, CNC ShopBot¶
In this week, we learned about a machine called CNC ShopBot that used to cut woods and provide shapes.
Procedures¶
- design shapes in fusion360
we used fusion360 to design needed shapes to construct our assignment task, each student were requested to design their own shapes in fusion360 and save their design as dxf file.

Safety¶
Using a CNC machine requires strict safety measures to prevent accidents. Operators should wear safety glasses and shoes, maintain a minimum distance from the machine, and avoid touching it during operation. Wearing tight and old clothes is recommended. Emergency stop buttons are available for immediate halting of the machine, and only authorized personnel can turn it on using a specific key. Material is secured with screws on a sacrifice sheet to prevent movement. These precautions ensure a safe working environment when using a CNC machine.
Group task (letters)¶
We started to let the CNC machine generate letters base on students names. The idea of this task just to see an example of the effect of changing the Alignment and speed of the CNC.
Sanding¶
The pieces needed to be sanded to achieve a better, more attractive shape because they had a lot of extra wood splinters protruding out of the material.
Individual Task¶
Each student had to make his won 2d design on fusion360 and put it in the cnc machine to generate his product.
