2. Computer Aided design¶
This week I started working on cuttle.xyz
It is a 2D/3D drawing website. These are the steps how to use it to draw a 2D shape for a key chain.
1 enter the website in the link above and sign in.
2 click on ‘New blank Project’
3 change the units as desired by pressing on Units and settings.
Then, you can choose the desired units which are inch, millimeter, centimeter, pixels, points etc.
4 Drag the shape you want to the sheet available for you.
Then you can align the shape to be in the middle by putting x and y axis on 0.
As well as the scale can also be changed 'xy' and make sure it is on mm.
5 Drag a new circle to the sheet and put it in the middle using same steps previously, increase its size to coverup the name we’ve written.
6 Add another small circle on top and align the x axis as 0
7 To attach two shapes to each other we select both shapes by selecting one of them and by pressing on SHIFT we press on the other shape. Then we press on modify and choose Boolean Union’Weld’.
8 Add a new small circle to work as an hanger for the key. align it in the x axis by 0.
By that we have finished drawing a basic key chain.
Ansys¶
Ansys is an app where you can create your own material, for example you can make it elastic, plastic, add heat, etc. Then your draw your 2D or 3D geometry. Then, you can edit your model by applying the material you have made to the geometry and make the assembly you want. Then you can calculate anything you want such as deformation, stress, strain, forces, etc.
This is an example of the work i have made.
1 choose from the toolbox the section you want to work at, I choose static structure.
2 create owr own material, i named my material 123.
3 start to sketch
4 Do the assembly and calculate the total deformation, stress and force reactions.
More drawing
Fusion¶
It is a 2D/3D drawing application. I used it to draw a yoyo, it consist of 3 part, one beam and two halves. and these are the steps used to draw it:
1 Draw one half: draw have the shape and make a hole for the beam to go in
2 Revolve it
3 Mirror the half
4 Draw half beam
5 Revolve it
6 Make the alignment for all the parts
So, this will be the final product
Evaluation¶
In this week i tried three apps to draw in 2D and 3D, which are cuttle, fusion and ansys.
Cuttle was complicated, and didn’t feel comfortable using it.
Fusion was fun and simple.
Ansys is a bet different, because it is more of an engineering app where you create your own material, then you can draw your shape and applying some forces or anything you want to it. However, and for drawing you can choose between two things which are spaceclaimer or designmoduler, I always use designmoduler because I’m more used to it.
Overall, I can tell that fusion was the best between the three because it is easy for usage.
Individual ideas¶
Red light, Green light; it is basically a doll that has a camera and a sensor in its eyes, so it can see detects the movement of the children. and if it sense any movement it will speak up by the speaker in its mouth.
Electrical fishing rod
It is a fishing a rod that has a sensor in it and it can sense the tension if a fish is caught. Then the motor will work to pull the fish up.
Group idea¶
we choose to make a combination of the Red light, green light game with another game which is cold hot game
So its a 2 in 1 game and the children can choose what game to play.
Cold hot game is a game where the doll can be hidden in a place and the children will start to look for it with a watch on their hands which will tell them hot if they are near or cold if they are far from the doll.
