3. Computer controlled cutting

This week I worked on three things:
1 Designing a parametric 2D design to make a press fit object.
2 Tested the laser cutting machine, we tried several speeds.
3 Printed a drawing on the vinyl machine.

2D parametric design using fusion.

1 Make a hand sketch diagram

2 Open fusion , in the solid category press modify then change parameters.

3 Press on the plus button a square will pop up fill it up with the dimension of the object your drawing, then press OK. And repeat for all dimensions.

After finishing everything press OK.

4 Start sketching, but instead of writing numbers for dimensions, we put the names we assigned for them.

5 Printing on the laser machine by importing our drawing on the machine, then to select how many copies we want on each axis.

then we assembles all the drawings we want to make for all the students to save time

Then we select the power for it.

My final product of the lase cutting

Some of my colleagues work

Comb, vocal, speed/power test

We did 3 tests as a group:
1 COMB Test: The goal of it is to check which hole fits best for the board we are using.

2 Vocal Test: The goal is to check the effect of the laser on different heights.

So, we found out that there is a specific height where the cutting will be as perfect as possible, and we always measure it using a piece of lego.

3 Speed/Power Test: the goal is to check different speeds with powers of the laser on the board

In this test we found out that the faster the speed was with less cutting will happen to the cardboard.

Vinyl machine

1 I searched for a picture to print from google. I chose a watermelon shape.
2 Download Silhouette and upload the the image
NOTE!!! in some photos i used my friend photos because i didn’t take photos of my work.

3 Connect to vinyl machine

4 Press OK

5 Take a piece of the sticker I want to print on

6 Stick it on the big sheet of the machine

7 After printing I took my final product and stick it to a notebook
