Welcome to FABLAB by Faisal
I joined the FABLAB Academy in the summer of 2024 to learn more about the practical applications of my design and programming skills that I have learned as a mechanical engineering student at Bahrain Polytechnic. This was a wonderful opportunity that allowed me to use CNC machining, 3D printing, and microcontrollers to bring to life my ideas. The 8 week journey has honed my technical skills and provided me with a huge amount of information on how to refine my designs to have it become suitable working objects in the real world. A big thank you to the FABLAB Bahrain team for having the patience and committing their time and efforts to educate me and supporting me throughout the entire program!
As a part of the FABLAB academy, we were assigned a project that we had to work on using all the skills that have been developed throughout the program. The project my team worked on was a gas sensing device, specifically LPG, that can be installed in homes to automatically shut off the valve at the source when detecting a leak in a household to avoid disastrous outcomes. A huge shout out to my teammates Abdulla and Juma for working their hardest to the very last minute to accomplish a successful prototype!
