Week 4 3D printing and scanning¶
1. 3D printing and designing:¶
3D printing, an additive manufacturing technique, fabricates three-dimensional objects through the sequential layering of materials. This innovative technology facilitates the creation of complex, customized designs utilizing a diverse array of materials, including plastics, metals, and biological cells. Its applications are extensive, encompassing fields such as rapid prototyping, manufacturing, healthcare, and architecture. As advancements in printing methodologies and material science continue to emerge, 3D printing is increasingly establishing itself as a pivotal force across various industries.
3D printing¶
For 3D printer we used tow type of it ultiMaker and creality
There is many examples to print 3D design and the one of those examples is Thingiverse by this website we can downlaod many samples of 3D desig. So I use this website to downlaod some design and I printed using 3D print.

I sent the design to 3D printer and I select my design from monitor printer after that I start print

3D My own 3D design¶
During this week we work also in our design so I start designing by using Fusion 360. At first I started drawing the cube:
Then I drew a cylinder at the bottom of the cube and I use also fillet tool to round the base:
Then I use shell tool to hollow out the object and I close it after that I use hole tool to make hole on the body:
I make thread by thread tools to be closed
I make a cover by sckeching circle and extrude then I fillet it
This is the design result:
I export my design as stl type file to print it
After that I use creality print program to put supporting and resize the design
I send the design to printer to start printing
By select my file from the printer I can start print my design:

3D Scanning¶
Xbox 360 kinect¶
For 3D scanning we use Xbox 360 kinect to scan our self, and we use 2 mobile app for scan some thing:
Xbox camera kinect
I slowly turned on the chair so the camera could scan me and convert the scan to 3D
After scanning and edit the 3D design I export it
Scaniverse¶
We start work on the mobile phone to scan some body and the first app was Scaniverse
To start scan some thing I select NEW SCAN from the app then I click on the mesh after that I select on of those method small, medium or larg object then I start scan the objects.

RealityScan¶
This app is very easy to used and scan some object
So to start scan some an object I click on the blue + then I can scan any object

During end of this week we try to make some design to work on it to can be use it on the electronics or mechanical work. So I to make gears like this video below:
I see in this gears there is many thig I can fix it or change it to be better so I make own my design to be a good and strong for work:
I start downlaod gear design from thingiverse after that I edit that design:
I sckech I circle on the gear then I extrude it after that I use Hole tools to make a hole. Also I make another circle on the gear then I use Shell tool to make a hole
And this will be the final result:
