2. Computer Aided Design¶
This week I will talk about two program can drow 2D designs and two program can drow 3D designs. And, I will talk about my experience with each program I tried.
(2D) Cuttle¶
What is Cuttle Software?¶
Cuttle is an innovative online software that simplifies the process of creating and managing design systems. As a web-based platform, it offers a user-friendly interface accessible from any device with an internet connection.
Some Pictures About my Work in Cuttle¶
first, we have to create an account on their website
click this box -after create an account- to create a new designs
The website will be in this shape
Pull the circle from this column
The size can be changeed by these two method
After click rotational repeat bottom, this will be the result
final result
The last point is that the DXF file type is fine to download in a 2D sketch

(2D) Inkskape¶
What is Inkskape Software?¶
Inkscape is a popular, open-source vector graphics editor used for creating and editing scalable vector graphics (SVG) files. It is widely known for its versatility, professional-grade tools, and user-friendly interface, making it suitable for both beginners and advanced graphic designers.
The steps of creating a logo in Inkskape¶
1- Setting Up Inkscape
Start by ensuring the view is set to custom and zoom in to a 1:1 ratio
2- Creating the Circle
Use the circles and ellipses tool to create a perfectly round circle by holding Ctrl and Shift while dragging.
3- Creating the Square and some change in the shape
Select the squares and rectangles tool to create a symmetrical square. Change its width to 275 pixels and convert it to a path. Edit the square by deleting specific nodes to create a triangle shape. Duplicate this triangle, flip it, and align it to form the lightning bolt.
4- Combining Shapes
Select both the triangle and the circle, then use the path union function to combine them into a single shape. Adjust the position and rotation of the lightning bolt as needed.
5- Downloading as DXF
Ensure your design is selected, then go to File > Save As, choose Desktop Cutting Plotter (.dxf) from the “Save as type” dropdown.

(3D & 2D) Fusion 360¶
What is Inkskape Software?¶
Fusion 360 is a comprehensive cloud-based CAD, CAM, and CAE software that offers a wide range of design, simulation, and manufacturing tools.
How to create an elbow flange by Fusion 360¶
After downloading and installing the software -by using the link in (‘Useful links’) :-
1- Creating a New Sketch
Start by creating a new sketch and drawing a vertical line of 150 mm in length and a horizontal line of the same size, 150 mm. The filet is 100 mm.
2- Conver from Line to Pipe
By choosing this button the shape will convert to a pipe
Can adjust the size of the pipe with these options
3- Adding Rectangle
Put rectangle in one side of the pipe and adjust the size
Add filts to rectangle
4- Creating Holes
A center-diameter circle with a diameter of 12.5 mm is placed on the diagonal of the rectangle. The distance from the center of the circle to a specific line is set to 11.5 mm.
Adjust the options
5- Extruding Shapes
The entire shape is extruded to a depth of -10 mm
6- Repeat With Other Side

(3D & 2D) SolidWork¶
SolidWorks is a popular computer-aided design (CAD) software developed by Dassault Systèmes. One of the key strengths of SolidWorks is its intuitive and user-friendly interface. In general, it is widely use in companies and industries.
Creating a Spur Gear in SolidWorks¶
1-Start with a Circle
Begin by drawing a circle. This will serve as the base for the spur gear. Use the midpoint line to ensure it’s centered.
2-Create Lines and Angles
Draw a line at any angle from the circle. This line will help in defining the gear’s teeth.
3-Use the Mirror Function
Use the mirror function to create symmetrical lines.
4-Sketch Pattern for Teeth
Utilize the sketch pattern feature to replicate the gear teeth. Select the lines that define the teeth and increase the number of teeth as 12
5- Extruded the Design
Once the teeth are defined, take a final circle to close the design. Exit the sketch mode and go to the feature menu to extrude the gear. This will give the gear its 3D shape.
6-Downloading as STL
Go to File > Save As, choose Desktop GEAR (.stl) from the “Save as type” dropdown.
