8. Moulding and casting¶
We were introduced to molding and casting and we learned about the different materials that we can use to mold and cast and how can we create our own magnet or keychain from scratch.
Assignment
For this assignment, I chose to do a fridge magnet. I started to design in Fusion360 and drew a rectangle and added a text in it. I then selected the text and extruded it.
To start the process:

I first engraved my design into the blue mold via laser cutter.

Then I mixed the resin with ratio 10:6 together for 1 minute

Poured the mix into the blue mold and waited 48 hours to dry.

I removed the silicon and did the resin mixture again.

Added blue color to the mix and poured into the silicon mold until it filled up the letters part only;waited another 48 hours for it to completely dry.

I then did the resin mixture again and added light blue and poured into the silicon mold; waited 48 hours.
