6. Large format CNC (computer controlled Machining)

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) is a manufacturing technique where computer software that is pre-programmed directs the movement of tools and machinery in a factory setting. This method is capable of overseeing a variety of sophisticated machinery including grinders, lathes, mills, and CNC routers.

For my project, I used SketchUp to design a 3D painting, a decorative wooden piece intended to be hung on a wall. Due to the limitations of the CNC machine at FabLab, which can only cut a maximum of 12mm, I ensured that each panel of the design did not exceed this thickness. Adjustments and oversight of the manufacturing process were made possible through editing and controlling the toolpath.
