2. Computer Aided Design

Day 1

In our second week, specifically on May 4, 2024, we explored various 2D and 3D software applications. I tried AutoCAD, where I created a 2D box.

I experimented with Autodesk Revit, where I drew a 2D box that automatically transformed into a 3D model.

I also tried Sketchup Pro, which allowed me to draw a box and convert it into a 3D shape. Among these options, I found Sketchup Pro to be the most user-friendly and enjoyable to use. I utilized different shapes and tools within Sketchup Pro to design a monster treehouse.

Once the design in Sketchup Pro was completed, I saved the file as a STereoLithography File (STL). Next, I created an account on Sketchfab and uploaded my monster treehouse to the website. The uploading process involved simply dragging the file and publishing it. Afterward, I accessed my user page, located my model, and copied the Embed link. To include the treehouse in my page, I navigated to the desired location (e.g., docs, assignments, week 02), opened the file for editing, selected the “edit single file” option, and pasted the embed link in the appropriate location.

Day 2

On May 6, 2024, we created a Cuttle account and began exploring its features. In component A, we experimented with various tools and shapes, focusing on designing keychains. We utilized tools such as circles and text to create our designs. Additionally, we learned how to combine lines using the Boolean union tool, add colors using the fill tool, write in Arabic by changing the font, incorporate emojis and convert them into editable paths, and apply modifications such as mirroring.

Furthermore, we delved into Autodesk Fusion and gained knowledge on designing furniture. Our process involved accessing the solid tool, selecting the create sketch tool, drawing a rectangle, adjusting its dimensions, and extruding the shape. For instance, I designed a shoe rack with a seat and planters. After completing the design, I saved it and exported it as a DXF file.

Day 3

On May 8, 2024, we just updated our wesbites.
