Who Am I?¶
About Me¶
Hey there, I’m Sara, a final-year diagnostic radiology student at the University of Bahrain. When I’m not studying X-rays, you’ll find me at the local library or practicing my Spanish language skills on Duolingo, or at the gym, sweating it out. Both sports and being surrounded by different people gives me life and energy.
I’m an explorer at heart. Whether it’s getting into a new hobby or trying out unique cuisines, I thrive on curiosity, which is what got me into this FabLab course over the summer, where we are expected to learn all about fabrication in a 10 weeks bootcamb starting from simple brainstorming methods and designing softwares all the way till coding, wood cutting, molding, and 3D printing in order to come up with a new innovation.
I believe in giving back to my community. Let’s make the world a better place, one product at a time!
My Previous Projects¶
Let’s Book¶
During the second batch of HIPO YOUTH program, I successfully managed with my team to create an initial prototype for a new feature on e-Shabab application that enables the public, both companies and individuals, to book the facilities of government youth centers in order to make the best use of them and have positive outcomes for both the ministry of youth and sports affairs and the users alike. I was responsible under great guidance from my mentor Mr. Khalid Al Eid for researching the feasibility of the new feature - including the financial feasibility for each parties. I was also responsible for designing a user-friendly interface with all its features and buttons.
Through collaborative teamwork, I was part of a group that successfully created a full prototype of a new leading app specialized in booking amenities of youth institutions. I’m proud to share that we secured the 1st place in the Youth Empowerment Centers Leaders Award, sponsored by H.H Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, where we secured the gold medal. Throughout the process, I gained valuable experience in detailed project planning and executed our plan effectively.
Together We Learn¶
In a collaboration with a small team of high school colleagues, we developed an English learning program for Khawla Secondary School students. We used unconventional and engaging methods to help 50 high schoolers successfully improve their English skills. Throughout a whole semester, we planned and organized weekly activities. Even after graduation, our program continued to support students in their English learning journey, serving new students each year.
Cookie Codes Bakery¶
I launched a home-based online business specializing in baked goods. As part of this venture, I managed social media content and successfully built a solid customer base within just four months. Along the way, I gained valuable insights into start-ups and attended various business management workshops. The name idea came after receiving daily messages from random websites asking to take my ‘cookies’ (the coding ones), therefore I launched an online bakery that sells delicious cookies instead of asking customers for them!
