In this week, we are going to learn about 2D and 3D design software.
3D design¶
Tinkercad¶
Tinkercad is a beginner-friendly 3D design software that allows you to create 3D models by manipulating basic shapes. You can start with pre-defined shapes and then adjust their size, color, and even the shape itself to build more complex designs. The ability to combine these primitive shapes is a key feature that enables you to construct intricate 3D models in a straightforward manner, even for users new to 3D design.
Fusion 360¶
Also, Fusion 360 is a more advanced 3D design software that offers a comprehensive set of tools and features for creating a wide range of 3D models. It includes a sketching interface, allowing you to start with 2D drawings and then use various extrusion, lofting, and other 3D modeling techniques to transform the sketches into fully-fledged 3D designs. Fusion 360 caters to more experienced users and provides a deeper level of control and flexibility compared to Tinkercad, making it suitable for more complex and professional-grade 3D modeling projects.
2D design¶
Cuttle¶
With Cricut, users can access a library of pre-designed templates and graphics, or they can create their own 2D designs from scratch using the software’s intuitive design tools. These tools enable users to work with vector-based shapes, text, and images to construct their desired 2D layouts.
Fusion 360¶
While Fusion 360 is primarily known as a powerful 3D CAD software, it also offers a comprehensive set of 2D design tools. The software’s 2D sketching environment allows users to create precise 2D drawings, illustrations, and layouts that can serve as the foundation for 3D modeling. Fusion 360 provides a full suite of sketching tools, dimensioning, and constraints, enabling users to construct detailed 2D designs with a high degree of accuracy.
