2. Computer Aided design¶
This week I worked on designing in 2D &3D Softwares.
CUTTEL¶
Important steps¶
1- Sign up in cuttel
2- Click on new project

3- Drag circle and add text

4- Center the objects

5- select desired components and choose union for grouping objects or difference to subtract

6- Export the design .svg or .stl

7- Add new component

8- Edit arabic fonts

Evaluation¶
I use Cuttel as 2D design software.
Advantages: It is accessible for both beginners and experienced designers, it is a website so there’s no need to download it, and it is totally free and easy to use.
Disadvantages: It has limited features, is limited to 5 projects per user, and has no offline version.”
InkScape¶
- Download InkScape
Important steps¶
- Click on desired shape or text on the left side of the screen and then draw it.

- Some of shortcut

- To separate the shape, first draw the separated line then select the line and the shape after that select Division.


- Tools: fill & stroke –> change color layers & Objects –> see/hide object group/ungroup flip align

- Change fonts

- To change measurements of the design, just click on the design and this will pop out in the top.

- To move the objects to forward and backward

- Shift + click –> select/unselect the shapes.

Evaluation¶
I use InkScape as 2D design software.
Advantages: has complex tools for experienced designers, it is a free downloadable software.
Disadvantages: very hard for beginners, too complex.
Fusion 360¶
- Signup in Autodesk, apply for educational, Download Fusion 360.
Important steps¶
- Create sketch and choose plane


- choose a 2D shape and draw it
- Extrude is important tool to transfer a 2D shape to 3D

- Choose operation

- Revolve is also an important tool to transfer a 2D shape to 3D

Disadvantages: very hard to learn at the beginning. The laptop lagging because of it.
TINKERCAD¶
- Sign up for TinkerCAD
Important Steps¶
- Drag shapes solid for real shape hole for deleting shape

- Change colors

- Tools: group/ungroup align mirror


- Drag ruler for measurement

- Add Notes

- Rotation

Advantages: very easy to learn, good for beginners, it is a free online Website. it has own embedded code for 3D modeling.
Disadvantages: there is no complex tools.
