3. 3D print¶
this week we worked on 3D printing which is developing an idea through any 3D software then we can upload it to any 3D printer to print the idea in real life. for my idea i tired to do a replica of the four season hotel in Bahrain.
Four Season Hotel Design¶
i choose the four season because i really like the design of the hotel and the area. i used sketch up software and it was kind of easy because you need to watch some videos to learn more about the program but for architecture designs it is good and direct to use Sketchup.
there are two rectangles so make one and extrude it then make mirror to make it on the other side. Then, group them so when you make changes both sides are changed.
the middle part is the easiest just make there rectangles and link them to the sides and make adjustments according to the original design. then i out scaled the windows part and colored them blue to make windows structure.

Cura¶
Cura is the program i used to print my design. my advice is you have to be carful of the scale of your design because it might be too big in Cura and you will think that there is a problem with program because you can not see it so just adjust the scale and every thing should work.

Difference in 3D printers¶
we learned about the difference in 3D printers. there are many differences between the printers such as speed of the print, time it takes to print and the materials to use. also, the difference in the printed objects you will notice the texture, details, softness and hardness, weight and neatness. in the below pictures there are the samples from different printer, the red sample is the worse in my opinion because the is no details in writing, the object is light, weak and breaks easily. the white sample is the second best due to the softness of the object and lack of details. the black sample is the best one because the objects is strong, detailed and neat so there isnt much of weakness in the printer.
3D scanning¶
3D scanning is when you have an object in real life and you want to transfer it data to the computer. 3D scanning provide the ability to edit and improve the object in the computer so this will save money and time because you dont need to waste money and time developing the object and the final result will not be the best result. i used an application called (Trnio plus) on my phone to scan a PC mouse, i used a PC mouse because there is many details in this particular mouse so the final result was amazing.
