3. Computer controlled cutting

This week I worked on learning computer controlled cutting using vinyl-cutting and laser-cutting.

• first we search about silhouette “i search about Alien Spaceship Silhouette :)”

i chose a picture from this website (https://i.ebayimg.com/thumbs/images/g/BN4AAOSwLYFg3nFW/s-l200.jpg)

• Then download a silhouette studio –> resize the picture as you like

• trace –> select trace area –> trace –> then move the picture away

• connect my laptop with the machine to send the design and select what we will cut in our situation we use vinyl, Glassy

Group work

• The group work was divided to 2 tasks, practical one for determining the best power and speed of the laser, you can see our work in Osama’s page

Individual work

• First, try to create a parametric design by using fusion360

• Make a line at the side of the circle

• Sketch dimension

• Set parameters from “Modify –> change parameters”

• To multiply this shape go to create –> pattren –> circular pattren then select the shape and choose the correct axis

• Send the design to the laser cut machine

• Set the speed and power as what we choose in the group work

• The machine start to cut

• The final parametric shape
