Making The Design¶
1. I started by designing a 3D design using Tinkercad
The requirements for the design size are as follows:
Smallest gap: 1.6mm (That’s the smallest milling bit)
Design height max: 8mm
Design width and length max: 60mm
Remember to keep your design 2.5D
2. After the design is made, it has been added to other design,aligned and saved as (.stl) in Tinkercad
Roland monoFAB SRM-20 CNC milling machine¶
monoFAB SRM-20 is a desktop-sized CNC milling machine produced by the well-known Roland,The SRM-20 is well renowned for its user-friendliness and ease of use. It is capable of high-precision milling of a variety of materials, from modeling wax to PC board and plastics.

4. Adjusting the Design using the software

First, we opend the design and confirmed its size and dimensions

Second, we selected the type of milling. and selected the better surface finsh option because of some small details in the design

Third, we did let the program choose the best tool size

After we saw the preview of the milling, we weren’t satisfied, so we selected a smaller diameter tool to have a cleaner result (1\16 inch)

Then we saw the preview again, and its more neat and clean.

Finally, we installed the tool ,corrected the position of the tool and started cutting
machine controls
The CNC machine is controlled via the proprietary, user-friendly VPanel. The controller comes with a simple UI, which allows setting the starting point and adjusting the tool position with ease by moving the cursor. Also, it lets you manage the spindle speed and feed rate, pause and resume operation.
5. Milling final result
6. After the cutting is done, we filled it with silicon with total amount of 60 grams (the steps for the are shown in the Group Assignment)

7.Finally, we fillied the silicon with resin (steps of making resin are shown in the Group Assignment and added some colors, in this step i faced a problem where i filled some parts with the color being more than the silicon so its chiped a little
