2. Computer Aided design

Week 2

2D Software

This week I experienced several 2D and 3D software. Also, I learned what is CAD? Computer-aided design (CAD) is a method of creating 2D drawings and 3D models of real-world goods digitally before they are created. You may quickly share, evaluate, simulate, and edit designs using 3D CAD. 2D software

Vectr

It is a free website through which you can design 2D samples and it is easy to use and straight forward. I started by creating a gaint square, followed by a series of small rectangles to symbolize the books, another rectangle to represent the shelf, finally a floor lamp.

Cuttle

Cuttle is a design tool for laser cutters, digital die cutters, and CNC routers, among other digital cutting devices. It contains a lot of functions and can be customized in a variety of ways.

I made this with 4 simple steps

step 1: I dragged the star shape to the center. step 2: I clicked the modifying button on the top of the page and chose (Rotational Repeat). step 3: Then I clicked the modifying button again and chose (Outline Stork). step4 : Finally, with simple modification I made this 2d design. Download

3D software

OpenScad

It was a bit difficult because of the codding but it gets easier with practice.

Fusion 360

I used Fusiion360 to make a 3D Halloween mask design.

This was my first time using Fusion 360, and I had some difficulties at first, but with practice, it became easier.

Tinkercad

Using TinkerCad I designed a sppaner. I started by using two identically sized cylinders, but I made one of them as a hole. Then I pressed on one of them, held down the shift key, and pressed the other to combine them. I used these tools from the program as shown in the following images. Next, I created a rectangular cube for the hand and a cylinder and polygon for the head, merging them as in the previous phases, before lining the models up and merging them. Final look:

How do I feel about this week?

It was a great week in which I learned a lot, utilized, and tried a variety of 2D and 3D software’s, and thoroughly enjoyed.
