6. Large format CNC (computer controlled Machining)

This week I worked on group assignment which is to test runout, alignment, speeds, feeds, and toolpaths for your machine, and in individual project which is to Make design something big and cut it using CNC and assembling it.

Individual project (Wood Chair)

This work was done by me and my colleague Kumail, inspired form this chair:

Using computer software to prepare it for CNC

Cutting the design using CNC

Comment: There were some flaws in my assignment.

1- The joints were not fitting, so some of them broke without insertion, while some of them was inserted but broke. This problem is solved by sanding the joint more untill their size become smaller. Their size should be smaller in the design itslef to avoid this problem.

2- The seat is low-height, it needs to be higher. This problem can be solved by measuring the seat of some chair and putting a similar height for this chair.

3- The back angle should be larger to be comfortable. This problem also can be solved by looking for the appropriate angle for chairs to be comfortable for human.

Design files

.f3d file for all

.dxf file for boundaries (chair body)

.dxf file for slab joints
