Final Project (Mechanical Design)

Hello to the “CNC Pizza Machine” Group page !

For the final project, we have create a team that consist of four members:

Project requirements

The project should incorporate:

  • 2D and 3D design
  • Additive and subtractive fabrication processes
  • Microcontroller programming and use of input & output devices
  • System integration and packaging

Concept & Idea Generation

Before we start with the project, the group members have started by looking at different projects that were made by previous Fab Academy Students, and researched online for different project ideas. Then, we have arrange couple of brainstorming meetings. Throughout these meetings We came up with a lot of amazing project ideas. However, most of them required more than two weeks to be planned and manufactured. Therefore, we minimize these ideas, and afterwards we shared few of them with our instructor. The instructor have successfully guided us to develop one of our ideas to meet the time limit. Thus, we have finally decided to create a “CNC Pizza Machine”.

This machine aims to print pizza dough with customized shapes to the users desire. This is achieved through multiple of steps as follows:

  • Step 1: The user upload the desired shape into the software and select the type of filament.
  • Step 2: The user then fill in the machine with the dough, power on the power supply, and the air pump.
  • Step 3: The user select the origin point.
  • Step 4: Finally, the user press the start button.

Throughout our researching we found a project with the same concept but the mechanism approach differs. Also, various of project with similar “CNC machine” concept were achieves such as Chocolate 3D printer and Pancake CNC machine. Thus, the previous project have provide for us with a great base to start our project.
